MadFish Wines Sideways Range

Grown and produced in the famous Margaret River wine region of Southwest Australia, the Sideways Range series offers the wine connoisseur a nice variety of vintages to caress the palate. The MadFish label has long been an award winning vintner and the Sideways Range is no exception. MadFish has chosen specific vineyards within the acclaimed Margaret River region, making the wines stand out above the crowd. Vintages include Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc Semillon and Shiraz. The series has been christened with the title of “sideways” based on the direction of which the vines are planted and grown. Normally the vineyards grow in a east-west direction, with Sideways, they are grown in a north-south direction. Keeping the environment in mind, the Sideways Range is grown with 100% organic methods and is boxed in 100% recycled boxes and new lightweight bottles.
Our 2008 MadFish Sideways Shiraz is produced from 100% Shiraz grapes. Grown on our own property and one other vineyard in northern Yallingup, our Shiraz is full of sweet and robust fruit flavours adding a delectable touch to meatier dishes. The 2008 vintage has reached full fruit and tannin ripeness. Your taste buds will dance under the spell of the mouth watering plum and chocolate flavors. Fermentation is received via the traditional processes with a hint of tannins to bring out the natural sweetness of the Shiraz grape. French and American barrels are used for maturing allowing for a vibrant wine that wafts a flora of blueberries and fruit pudding across the nostril. Reviews of the Sideways Shiraz dictate the well balanced feel and flavour.
Another notable to the range is the 2008 MadFish Sideways Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot. With a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, this Margaret River vintage offers the public a Bordeaux style blend. Withholding an attribute of blackberry and black currant flavours, the long tannin slides this wonder down the palate with ease and delight. On its course, you will find the Sideways Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot breech into a sweet centre while the Petit Verdot offers out the intense flavour at the beginning of the journey. A delightful aroma plays upon the soul as it brings about the blackberry and mulberry scents to tickle the nose. Layered with flavour, this vintage is not one to miss.
A more recently produced wine comes to the consumer in the 2009 MadFish Sideways Sauvignon Blanc Semillon. Smart, dry and evenly flavoured this blend of 64% Sauvignon Blanc and 36% Semillon grape has been brought to optimum ripeness for a graceful wine. The natural occurrence of the acid in the fruit only strengthens the fruit’s flavours. The Sauvignon Blanc is the bare bones behind the soul of the vintage with its hints of aromas and lusciousness.
The Semillon only strengthens blend drawing out the citric features from the wine. Fermentation occurs within metal tanks rather than wood at cooler temperatures to preserve the freshness of the aroma.
Atypical of the Margaret River vintages, the 2009 MadFish Sideways Sauvignon Blanc Semillon sends fourth the characteristics of passion fruit, guava, lemon and bay leaf with the barrel fermentation adding in a creamy texture to dance upon the palate. Reviews give the wine a nearly 100 points lauding its gentleness and crispness.
To bring the excitement of dancing aromas filling the air, and delectable flavours to your soul, try the Sideways Range from MadFish.
