MadFish Wines Gold Turtle Series

Gold Turtle is created from premium vineyards in the Frankland River, Mt. Barker, Geographe and Margaret River wine regions in Southwestern Australia. When harvested, the Gold Turtle vintages are at the height of their maturity. Gold Turtle is fit for royalty with its superb flavour, dignified taste and graceful purity.
The Gold Turtle Shiraz allowed the fruit to ripen evenly at its vineyard in the Margaret River wine region. The 2006 Gold Turtle Shiraz won the “Medium Bodied Dry Red Wine” award in the 2009 competition. Judges of the contest stated the Shiraz was shy and brooding, simple and pleasant, excellent and bright, nice and earthy. The Judges found the taste to range from peppery with berry notes, spearmint tones and blueberry fruit with a grand drive to the finish.
The balance found in the Gold Turtle Cabernet Sauvignon is a byproduct of great strength found in the mature varietal in the Frankland River region. These grapes are actually harvested by hand and sorted, de-stemmed and fermented. Basket pressed or kept in skins for maturation, the wine could be found in French oak barriques for a year and a half before blending. Well cellared, the Cabernet Sauvignon will last up to six years. In a review from Huon Hooke in 2009, he stated it well when he said: “[The Madfish Gold Turtle Cabernet Sauvignon] has an appealing mix of fruity and savory flavours in the mouth.”
The dry winter of 2007 produced the even development of fruit for the 2008 Gold Turtle Tempranillo. From the fringes of Harvey Township, the grapes were harvested by hand to make certain that there was even ripening. Only 10-20% of the grapes were left whole, the rest were destemmed leaving the consumer with a superb vintage.
South West, Western Australia in 2007 produced the 100% Gold Turtle Chardonnay. The grapes are hand picked and separated to ensure that the most perfect are included in the winemaking process. With a delicate and clear, crisp flavour, the Gold Turtle Chardonnay leads with a small explosion of melon and hazelnut on the palate. The acidity is crisp with touches of lemon and grapefruit flavours. Reviews laud the creamy and rich texture of the wine from Margaret River as well as having a sense of understated style.
The Gold Turtle series from MadFish offers the wine aficionado a world of pure happiness as the vintages hit the palate, glide across the tongue with grace, linger just long enough to fashion the flavours involved, and finishing with a gentle bang on the taste buds. Careful care is given to each and every grape to make sure that what you take home is something that would be fit for a king. Winners of several rewards, the Gold Turtle series offers something for virtually any meal.
